Completed in early 2002 the Mermaid I is a 28 meter (97 ft.), double engine, luxury Similan liveaboard dive yacht. She was custom built and constructed of the highest quality marine steel available, making her a stable platform for extended offshore cruises in Thailand and the Burma Mergui Archipelago. Well appointed, her interior reflects the standards of a five star hotel and adds a whole new dimension to diving in Southeast Asia. Taking a maximum of 15 guests there will be no crowds above and below the water. There is no shortage of space, style, or extreme comfort on this Thailand and Burma liveaboard favorite.

A Choice of Luxury Cabins
Mermaid 1 has a total of 8 en-suite air conditioned cabins: one master state room (king size bed), one single (twin bed), five deluxe (double / twin beds), and two standard cabins (twin beds). All of the master and deluxe cabins open to the outside of the boat affording not only beautiful views, but also incredible fresh sea breezes. Each cabin has a TV so you can review your pictures or video, DVD access, large wardrobe, refrigerator, bath robes, toiletries, comfortable duvet, and loads of fluffy towels. The two standard twin bunk cabins are located on the lower deck and only lack the panoramic windows of main deck cabins. The Mermaid1 has taken great efforts to maximize the comfort of every cabin on the liveaboard, and add the little extras that make this your home away from home.
Entertainment, Dining, and Common Areas
The saloon, which is combined with the indoor dining area, is air-conditioned, tastefully decorated in hand finished teak trim, and offers stunning views of the Andaman Sea. Gourmet meals featuring western and Thai cuisine are served indoors at the "Sawasdee Restaurant and Bar" where you can select from a list of fines wines for your dining pleasure. After dinner or between dives relax in the saloon equipped with DVD / TV and music center, and a full selection of marine life books for your enjoyment.
For sun lovers, there is a huge (60 sq.m.) sun deck forward on the bow and one on the upper most deck with cushioned sun bed, perfect for tanning and stargazing. Don'f forget the beautiful outdoor seating area complete with a gorgeous hand finished hard wood table and cushioned chairs perfect for relaxing in the evening to the glorious views of the Andaman Sea, or catching the morning sunrise over the Similan Islands.
Dive Platform, Nitrox, and Safety
The Mermaid 1 was designed as a vessel which offers the ultimate in choice and comfort for photographers and nitrox divers as well. There is a wide stern dive platform with two exit ladders and fresh water showers, 4 camera rinse tanks, and a large camera table for all of your camera and video diving equipment. 32% and 36% Nitrox are available for all you nitrox divers, and a EANX Nitrox dive course for those who would love to become a certified nitrox diver.
In addition to her standards of luxury and comfort the Mermaid 1 was built to International Maritime Organization (ISO) standards of safety, is capable of transoceanic voyages, and has the latest in communication and safety equipment on board.

Liveaboard Trip Prices Include: all prices are per person and include accommodation on board, all meals, most drinks (drinking water, coffee, tea, etc.), professional dive master services, scuba tanks, weights, weight belt, air, and 3-4 dives per day. We also include hotel transfers from Patong Beach, Kata Beach, and Karon Beach.
Additional Charges: Equipment rental and national park fees are not included in the above prices and can be paid for upon arrival. Equipment rental is generally $20-$25 U.S. for a full set of equipment, depending on availability. Park fees in Thailand are 800 Thai Baht for entry and 200 Thai Baht per day. Burma also charges a fee for entry, paid in USD in the amount of $190 to $250 U.S. PADI diving courses and alcoholic beverages will also be paid for on the boat.

The itinerary of the MV Mermaid 1 is meant to deliver the best diving of the Similan Islands, Surin, the Burma Mergui Archipelago within the time allotted for the liveaboard cruise. Her schedule will consist primarily of 9 Day and 9 Night cruises to the best dive sites in Thailand(Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, Richelieu Rock, and Burma). In addition to the Thailand and Burma liveaboard cruises she will also offer several 9 Day / 10 Night cruises to the best of the Andaman Islands.
Sample Itinerary
Day of Departure (First evening on the Mermaid 1)
- 17:00 Pick Up Chalong, Rawai, Nai Harn, Phuket Town, Bang Tao, Nai Yang (Airport)
- 17:30 Kata, Karon, Kamala, Surin, Kathu
- 18:00 Patong
- 19:00 Transfer to the Liveaboard in Patong Bay, Check In, Orientation, Paperwork, Boat and Crew Introduction
- 20:30 Depart from Patong Bay while having Dinner (6 Hour Evening Cruise to the Similan Islands)
Diving Days 1 thru 7
- 3 to 4 Dives per Day
Diving Days 8 thru 9
- 2 Dives per Day
Day of Arrival ( Last Morning on the Mermaid 1)
- 11:00 Depart for Phuket
