Custom built in the year 2004 to precise standards, the Moana is a two masted Phinisi schooner constructed by Sulawesi craftsmen of the finest teak and iron wood. At 24 meters (80 ft.) long and 6.5 meters (21 ft.) wide she combines traditional atmosphere and modern conveniences to easily accommodate a maximum of 10 divers (12 guests) in five air conditioned and en-suite cabins. All cabins which are on the lower deck feature a warm teak wood interior, porthole windows, towels, toiletries, hand basin, wardrobe with mirrors, spring beds, as well as en-suite showers. There are two beautifully appointed Double Bed Cabins, two Triple Cabins, and one Quad (Family) Cabin, all complete with Indonesian artifacts. With only 10 divers onboard there will be no crowds above or below the water.

With year round four night trips departing from Labaunbajo on Flores Island, Moana has quickly become popular and widely known among discerning divers looking for an affordable budget option and shorter Komodo diving adventure. Her Komodo diving cruises encompass all the best dive sites of the Komodo and Rinca Islands plus a walk with the ominous Komodo Dragons. Moana offers a complete dive cruise package with a a level of service and comfort that is difficult to find at this price point. Flores Island is just a hop skip and a jump from Bali on Merpati Airlines so don't miss one of these 5 day and 4 night legendary cruises. A Dive Adventures Asia Top Pick!

Entertainment, Dining, and Common Areas

This Moana liveaboard is perfect for those divers who love the outdoors and the open sea. The enormous main deck comes complete with a cushioned seating area which is ideal for brushing up on your tan lines or star gazing in the evening breeze. Make yourself comfortable on one of the cozy over stuffed lounge chairs and enjoy the cruise. This is our favorite spot to have an evening cocktail or two as we sail the world famous Komodo Islands.

The shade covered entertainment area is where you will enjoy your breakfast while the sun is rising and where your hot and fresh dinner is served alfresco while the sun sets on the Flores Sea. Meals are served buffet style and consist of delicious local and international cuisine. Soft drinks, coffee, tea, milk, fruit, biscuits, snacks and drinking water are all free of charge. There are numerous snacks available throughout the day which include: yogurts, fresh fruits, grain cereals, and tasty biscuits. Eat and drink as much as you like as you will need your energy. For relaxing with your fellow divers in the evening there is great selection of local beer and wine available at a reasonable cost.

The upper deck indoor saloon houses the home entertainment system including a TV, DVD and stereo. There is an extensive movie and music library as well as plenty of marine and general interest books for your use. For photographers there is a laptop for viewing your photos of the day. The large picture windows of the saloon bring in fresh sea breezes and cool air making this a great area for socializing or relaxing in the evenings or afternoons.

A Dive Deck for Photographers

The dive deck has been designed with comfort and convenience in mind. There is plenty of area for suiting up and loads of storage space for your personal equipment. For photographers and videographers there is a camera table and a number of rinse tanks.

The itinerary of the Moana is meant to deliver the best diving of the Komodo and Rinca Islands within the time allotted for the liveaboard cruise. Her schedule will consist primarily of 5 Day / 4 Night and 6 Day / 5 Night cruises to the best dive sites around the Komodo - Rinca Islands. All Komodo liveaboard cruises will depart from Benoa Harbor on Bali Island or Labuanbajo on Flores Island. There will be several 8 Day / 7 Night and 10 Day / 9 Night cruises throughout the diving season.

Sample Itinerary 5 Day / 4 Night Cruise

Day of Departure - (First day on the Moana)
Flight from Bali - LBJ at about 10am. Arrive Labuanbajo midday. Welcome aboard Moana, waiting for you in the harbor of Labuanbajo. After a refreshing welcome drink, you set sail heading south. Check-out dive in the afternoon. Maybe a night dive as well. Dinner and overnight north of Komodo. 2~Dives

Diving Day 2 - North of Komodo
Morning dive: Crystal Rock. After breakfast depart for a dive at Castle Rock. The rock is packed with bronze and rust colored sponges and soft tree corals. You may see black snappers, large cuttlefish, pyramid butterfly fish, and red octopuses. Later in the afternoon we climb the local summit and enjoy a splendid panorama over the moon-shape islands of the Komodo Archipelago and the mainland of Flores. Afternoon dive at the light house in the north of Komodo. Also a night dive at Gili Lawa Passage. 4~Dives

Diving Day 3 - Komodo Pink Beach
Morning dives: Current City (Batu Bolong) and Tatawa. Thousands of fish of every color and shape are here including regal angelfish, checkerboard wrasse and masked unicorn fish, against a beautiful backdrop of acripora corals, gorgonian fans and sponges. In the afternoon we dive Manta Point or Pink Beach and there may also be a night dive. 4~Dives

Diving Day 4 - Rinca Islands
This morning we dive again at our favorite spot, Current City. While enjoying a wonderful breakfast, we sail towards Rinca, relax and enjoy the great views. Look out for dolphins! Another dive at Pulau Tengah (Little Batu Bolong) our new secret hot spot! In the afternoon a chance for a 3 hour Dragon walk to see the infamous Komodo Dragons. 2~Dives

Day of Return ( Last Day on the Moana)
Snorkeling at Pulau Bidadari. After breakfast we will have time for a guided tour through the city of Labuanbajo, before you are transferred to the airport where your return flight to Bali is waiting for you.

Note: This does not represent an exact itinerary, it is approximate only. Every cruise is different. Itineraries depend on current conditions, time of year, weather, captain, cruise director, and guest preferences. We do our best to put you at the best sites possible on every dive.

We take no responsibility for scheduling or itinerary changes due to changing weather, political situations, natural disasters or other events beyond our control. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for any kind of trip you do anywhere in the world. We also recommend that you have DAN or other diving accident insurance up to date and current in case of an unanticipated evacuation or other treatment that may not be covered by your regular insurance.
