The MV West Coast Explorer is an extremely popular Thailand liveaboard, year after year, with a wide range of divers because of her warm atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and commitment to guest satisfaction. At 26 meters (89 ft.) long and 6 meters (20 ft.) wide she accommodates a maximum of 20 guests in eight air-conditioned cabins. The two upper deck cabins have a double bed and picture windows for viewing the Andaman Sea. On the main deck there are four twin share cabins and two quad share that also have beautiful views of the open sea. There are three well kept hot and cold showers, as well as toilets just down the hall from the cabins. Entertainment, Dining, and Common Areas
With only 20 guests onboard there is ample room for relaxing during the day on the large topside sundeck, enjoying an evening meal under the covered dining area, chilling in the cool saloon area watching a movie, listening to music, or browsing a variety of fish identification books.
The dive deck which is spacious and well organized is monitored by CCTV for your safety, is equipped with showers, rinse tanks for photography and video equipment ,and strong night lights. She is also equipped with a 4 meter dinghy, as well as modern navigation and communication equipment. The Explorer continues to set a high standard in the budget class and is an exceptional value for your money. She departs Thap Lamu for trips to the Similan Islands, Koh Bon, Koh Tachai, and Richelieu Rock.
Priority # 1
Safety on board is a top priority and the vessel is equipped with a comprehensive first aid kit, life jackets, fire extinguishers and a DAN Oxygen kit. In the wheel house are GPS chart plotters and depth sounders to insure correct navigation of the vessel during periods of low visibility. The M/V Explorer is equipped with a closed circuit video system that covers the engine room and the dive platform area to insure that the crew can monitor these areas of the vessel continuously.

Liveaboard Trip Prices Include: all prices are per person and include accommodation on board, all meals, most drinks (drinking water, coffee, tea, etc.), professional dive master services, scuba tanks, weights, weight belt, air, and 3-4 dives per day. We also include hotel transfers from Patong Beach, Kata Beach, and Karon Beach.
Additional Charges: Equipment rental and national park fees are not included in the above prices and can be paid for upon arrival. Equipment rental is 500 Thai Baht for a full set of equipment. Park fees in Thailand are 800 Thai Baht for entry and 200 Thai Baht per day. PADI diving courses and alcoholic beverages will also be paid for on the boat.
How to Get There: Similan Islands liveaboard cruises aboard the West Coast Explorer depart from Thap Lamu Pier north of Phuket Island. Pick up is available on the day of departure throughout Phuket, at Phuket International Airport, and around the resort area of Khao Lak. There are direct flights to Phuket from Singapore, Malaysia, some cities in Europe, and from Bangkok, Thailand. Bangkok is the hub of Southeast Asia and is easily accessible from Europe, Asia, Australia, America, and the Middle East.
